Korpiklaani/Crimson Shadows/Nordheim
1er novembre 2026

Korpiklaani/Crimson Shadows/Nordheim

November 1, 2026

Salle Montaigne

A festive evening is in store as Finnish outfit Korpiklaani visits Quebec City for the umpteenth time, and Salle Montaigne for the second time in less than a year. This time, joined by Crimson Shadows and Nordheim, the band will celebrate in front of a fairly packed crowd.

Nordheim

Quebec band Nordheim is tasked with warming up the crowd, which they do without much difficulty. It goes without saying that the band knows how to get a party going with their festive melodeath, which sounds something like a little baby born from a cross between Ensiferum and Alestorm… let’s say. The band members are mobile and charismatic, and the melodies immediately spark a reaction from a crowd that keeps growing before our eyes. Through Boobs and Bacon, Don’t Spill Your Drink, and Get Drunk or Die Trying, the outfit from Quebec City’s South Shore entertains an already won-over crowd, ready to party for hours. An excellent performance from the local band, whom we’ll undoubtedly see again on our regional stages soon!

Next up is Ontario’s Crimson Shadows, who take the stage with a blend of power metal, melodeath, and a few passages of melodic black metal that intertwine wonderfully. Unfortunately, two singers are absent tonight, leaving, if I’m not mistaken, Andy King on clean vocals and a certain Jean-Pierre on growls. They are incredibly effective and talented, so their excellent performance deserves recognition. Most of the songs come from the album Whispers of War (which I highly recommend!), along with selections from both Kings Among Men and Glory on the Battlefield. A very solid performance from an underrated band from our country who, hopefully, will receive more attention during this tour!

At 9:30 p.m., the festive Korpiklaani crew takes the stage to launch into the excellent Pilli on Pajusta Tehty, with its characteristic sound. Delivering folk metal with distinctly Scandinavian flavours, all the members of the troupe, led by the iconic Jonne Järvelä, are grinning from ear to ear, as usual. The first half-hour of the show is absolutely packed, with the hits coming at a furious pace. We get Sahti, which immediately gets the party going. The mosh pit is already well established, and things are getting properly rowdy. After Hunting Song, we get Wooden Pints, A Man with a Plan, Beer Beer, and the most festive of them all, Happy Little Boozer, in quick succession. People are jumping and headbanging with abandon, a sign that all is well in the best of all possible worlds!

However, the pace of the songs then slows considerably for the following half-hour. We move firmly into material that is more folk and less metal, without it being bad by any means. An honourable mention goes to the excellent accordionist, who works tirelessly to get the crowd moving, running from one side of the stage to the other throughout the performance. Jonne Järvelä, for his part, still looks like the same drunken leprechaun he has always portrayed onstage. He addresses the crowd several times in broken English that we can often barely understand, but oh well. Toward the end, there’s a sudden burst of energy as we get Ievan Polkka, a timeless classic, followed by a cover of Boney M’s Gotta Go Home. Nice! Metsämies, Viima, and Saunaan follow, before the floor erupts one last time to the essential Vodka. Solid!

Once again, the Finnish outfit has delivered a quality show, and they’ll be visiting several more remote regions as part of this tour. Let’s hope Korpiklaani continues making its usual stop in our neck of the woods in the near future!
