ARCH ENEMY

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER

THROWN INTO EXILE

Arch Enemy and The Black Dahlia Murder at Montreal’s Olympia: Halloween in great company!

October 31, 2026 — Olympia, Montreal
Presented by Extensive Enterprise

A photography assignment at Palais Montcalm meant I missed the Quebec City show, held in the lobby of the Centre Vidéotron. I would have loved to experience that, but it’ll have to wait until next time!

So I had to head to Montreal the following day, to the Olympia, to see Arch Enemy with their new vocalist, Lauren Hart.

Already known for her work with Once Human and her guest appearances with Kamelot, Lauren Hart fits perfectly into Arch Enemy. What a great match! An incredible voice and infectious energy! And judging by the new song, it certainly feels like a return to a heavier sound.

Arch Enemy and The Black Dahlia Murder have each developed a distinct identity, creating music that remains authentic and has influenced other bands. It’s always a pleasure to experience that personality onstage.

Right before them, The Black Dahlia Murder delivered an incredible performance. And what can I say about Brian Eschbach, the founding guitarist who has handled vocals since 2022! He delivered a performance worthy of the role. The costumes also added a great touch to this Halloween evening!

In the middle of the lineup, Septicflesh won over the crowd despite the absence of guitarist and composer Christos Antoniou. The Greek band’s symphonic death metal fully satisfied the many fans who had come out to see them. Their signature blend of heaviness and orchestration was right at home on Halloween night.

We started the evening with Thrown Into Exile, a band from Los Angeles that combines melodic death metal and groove metal. A promising act that got things off to a strong start!

Then Crypta made another powerful impression. Formed in 2019 by Fernanda Lira and Luana Dametto, the Brazilian band continues to make its mark in death metal. Every time I see them, I feel like they’ve taken things up a notch across the board. These four women are simply excellent!

Another successful show and a fantastic Halloween evening in great company! I can’t wait to hear Arch Enemy’s next album!

Here are my photos.

Cheers!
