ALL SHALL PERISH, CARNIFEX, MAULED ET DEADWOOD : UNE SOIRÉE DE BRUTALITÉ AU CLUB SODA
Club Soda, Montréal — 16 septembre 2026
Le Club Soda était complètement rempli le 16 septembre dernier alors qu’une affiche particulièrement brutale réunissait quatre formations issues de différentes générations de la scène deathcore : Deadwood, Mauled, Carnifex et All Shall Perish. Une soirée qui promettait son lot de riffs lourds, de breakdowns dévastateurs et, évidemment, une fosse complètement déchaînée.
Et disons-le tout de suite : le public montréalais n’était clairement pas venu pour rester tranquille.
DEADWOOD : UNE ENTRÉE EN MATIÈRE QUI FRAPPE FORT
C’est Deadwood qui avait la tâche de lancer les hostilités, et le groupe montréalais n’a certainement pas manqué son entrée.
Dès les premières notes, ça rentrait au poste. La formation a offert une performance excellente, soutenue par un son particulièrement efficace qui permettait aux différents éléments de leur musique de bien ressortir. Dans une salle déjà bien remplie, Deadwood a rapidement réussi à capter l’attention du public.
La réaction de la foule était d’ailleurs assez révélatrice : les spectateurs ont visiblement apprécié la prestation, et l’énergie présente devant la scène démontrait que le groupe avait parfaitement réussi son travail de première partie.
Pour une formation qui devait donner le coup d’envoi à une soirée aussi chargée, Deadwood a placé la barre assez haut.
DEADWOOD
MAULED : PLACE À LA VIOLENCE
Si Deadwood avait bien préparé le terrain, Mauled est venu faire monter la température d’un bon cran.
La formation a livré un spectacle particulièrement lourd et violent, avec des breakdowns qui semblaient avoir été conçus spécifiquement pour déclencher des mouvements de foule. Et ça n’a pas manqué.
La fosse était complètement survoltée : mosh pit, wall of death et body surfing se succédaient alors que le public répondait à chaque moment particulièrement lourd de la prestation.
N’ayant jamais écouté Mauled auparavant, il m’est difficile de ressortir un morceau en particulier de leur set. Par contre, une chose est certaine : le groupe a parfaitement réussi à faire ce qu’il était venu faire. La prestation était intense du début à la fin et l’énergie dégagée sur scène se transmettait directement à la foule.
Un petit bémol toutefois du côté de l’éclairage. Les changements de lumières étaient plutôt limités et le rouge dominait une bonne partie du spectacle. Cela dit, cette abondance de rouge fonctionnait plutôt bien avec l’ambiance particulièrement violente et pesante du groupe.
MAULED
CARNIFEX : UNE MACHINE BIEN HUILÉE
Après deux premières prestations qui avaient déjà bien réchauffé le Club Soda, Carnifex est venu prendre possession de la scène.
Pour ma part, c’était un plaisir de revoir la formation, puisque ma dernière rencontre avec Carnifex remontait à leur passage au Heavy MTL en 2019. Le groupe a depuis eu l’occasion de revenir au Québec, mais c’était ma première fois à nouveau devant eux depuis cette prestation.
Carnifex a livré une excellente performance, avec un son impeccable et une présence scénique solide de la part de chacun des membres. Plusieurs spectateurs connaissaient visiblement très bien les chansons et reprenaient les paroles avec le groupe, créant une belle connexion entre la formation et la foule.
Côté éclairage, les stroboscopes étaient particulièrement présents tout au long de la prestation. Cela ajoutait beaucoup d’intensité visuelle au spectacle et collait parfaitement à l’atmosphère agressive de Carnifex.
Après toutes ces années depuis mon dernier spectacle de Carnifex, ce fut un véritable plaisir de les retrouver sur scène.
CARNIFEX
ALL SHALL PERISH : UN MOMENT PARTICULIER
Puis est finalement venu le moment que j’attendais personnellement le plus.
All Shall Perish.
Pour quelqu’un qui écoute le groupe depuis son adolescence, cette soirée avait une signification particulière. Je n’avais encore jamais eu l’occasion de voir All Shall Perish en spectacle, et pouvoir non seulement assister à leur prestation, mais également les photographier, représentait certainement l’un des moments forts de la soirée.
Et le groupe n’a pas déçu.
Dès le début du set, l’ambiance dans le Club Soda était complètement différente. La foule était en feu et le mosh pit ne semblait jamais vouloir s’arrêter. Les amateurs de longue date étaient visiblement très heureux de retrouver le groupe, tandis que la formation démontrait qu’elle avait encore énormément de mordant.
Chaque musicien a livré une excellente performance. L’ensemble était solide, précis et surtout extrêmement énergique.
La setlist permettait également de revisiter plusieurs morceaux marquants du catalogue du groupe, avec notamment « Eradication », « Wage Slaves », « The Day of Justice », « Prisoner of War », « The True Beast » et « The Last Relapse », avant de conclure avec « Be As Kings, Be As Gods ».
Personnellement, « Wage Slaves » et « Prisoner of War » comptaient parmi mes moments préférés de la soirée. Entendre ces morceaux en direct après les avoir écoutés pendant une bonne partie de mon adolescence avait quelque chose de franchement spécial.
Et puis, il y avait évidemment le plaisir de voir Eddie en personne pour la première fois.
La réaction du public était à la hauteur de l’occasion. Chants, mosh pit et une énergie constante : le Club Soda était complètement investi dans la prestation.
UNE SOIRÉE QUI A TENU SES PROMESSES
Au final, cette soirée aura offert exactement ce que l’affiche laissait présager : quatre groupes lourds, quatre ambiances différentes et une foule particulièrement énergique.
Deadwood a lancé la soirée avec une prestation solide et efficace. Mauled a amené une bonne dose de violence avec ses breakdowns et une fosse complètement déchaînée. Carnifex a démontré pourquoi son expérience scénique se fait sentir, tandis qu’All Shall Perish a offert une conclusion particulièrement mémorable.
Pour moi, la soirée avait également une dimension personnelle. Photographier un groupe que j’écoute depuis mon adolescence et que je n’avais jamais vu en spectacle auparavant rendait le passage d’All Shall Perish particulièrement significatif.
Et après une soirée passée à voir du mosh pit, des wall of death, du body surfing et des musiciens qui donnent tout ce qu’ils ont sur scène, une chose est certaine : le Club Soda n’a pas exactement été épargné.
Une soirée brutale, énergique et remplie de nostalgie qui aura certainement laissé quelques cous endoloris au lendemain matin.

ALL SHALL PERISH, CARNIFEX, MAULED AND DEADWOOD: A NIGHT OF BRUTALITY AT CLUB SODA
Club Soda, Montreal — September 16, 2026
Club Soda was completely packed on September 16 as a particularly brutal lineup brought together four bands from different generations of the deathcore scene: Deadwood, Mauled, Carnifex and All Shall Perish. It was a night that promised plenty of crushing riffs, devastating breakdowns and, of course, a completely out-of-control pit.
And let’s say it right away: the Montreal crowd clearly did not come to stand still.
DEADWOOD: A HARD-HITTING START
Deadwood had the task of kicking things off, and the Montreal band certainly did not miss its chance.
From the very first notes, they came out swinging. The band delivered an excellent performance, backed by a particularly effective sound mix that allowed the different elements of their music to come through clearly. With the venue already well filled, Deadwood quickly managed to grab the crowd’s attention.
The audience reaction was quite telling as well: people clearly enjoyed the performance, and the energy in front of the stage showed that the band had done its job perfectly as the opening act.
For a band tasked with launching such a packed night, Deadwood set the bar pretty high.
MAULED: TIME FOR VIOLENCE
If Deadwood had prepared the ground well, Mauled came in and turned the intensity up another notch.
The band delivered an especially heavy and violent performance, with breakdowns that seemed specifically designed to trigger chaos in the crowd. And they did exactly that.
The pit was completely fired up: mosh pits, a wall of death and body surfing followed one another as the audience reacted to every particularly heavy moment of the performance.
Having never listened to Mauled before, it is difficult for me to single out one specific song from their set. One thing is certain, though: the band perfectly accomplished what it came to do. The performance was intense from beginning to end, and the energy coming from the stage transferred directly to the crowd.
There was one small downside, however, when it came to the lighting. The changes were fairly limited and red lighting dominated a large portion of the show. That said, the abundance of red actually worked quite well with the band’s particularly violent and oppressive atmosphere.
CARNIFEX: A WELL-OILED MACHINE
After two opening performances that had already warmed up Club Soda considerably, Carnifex came out and took control of the stage.
For me, it was a pleasure to see the band again, since my last encounter with Carnifex dated back to their appearance at Heavy MTL in 2019. The band has returned to Quebec since then, but this was my first time seeing them again since that performance.
Carnifex delivered an excellent set, with flawless sound and a strong stage presence from every member. Many people in the crowd clearly knew the songs very well and sang along with the band, creating a strong connection between the group and the audience.
As for the lighting, strobe lights were especially prominent throughout the performance. They added a lot of visual intensity to the show and fit Carnifex’s aggressive atmosphere perfectly.
After all these years since my last Carnifex show, it was a real pleasure to see them on stage again.
ALL SHALL PERISH: A SPECIAL MOMENT
Then finally came the moment I had personally been waiting for the most.
All Shall Perish.
For someone who has listened to the band since his teenage years, this night had a special meaning. I had never had the opportunity to see All Shall Perish live before, and being able not only to attend their performance but also photograph them was certainly one of the highlights of the evening.
And the band did not disappoint.
From the beginning of the set, the atmosphere inside Club Soda felt completely different. The crowd was on fire and the mosh pit never seemed to stop. Longtime fans were clearly thrilled to see the band again, while the musicians showed that they still had plenty of bite.
Every musician delivered an excellent performance. The whole set was tight, precise and, above all, extremely energetic.
The setlist also gave fans the chance to revisit several standout tracks from the band’s catalogue, including “Eradication,” “Wage Slaves,” “The Day of Justice,” “Prisoner of War,” “The True Beast” and “The Last Relapse,” before closing with “Be As Kings, Be As Gods.”
Personally, “Wage Slaves” and “Prisoner of War” were among my favourite moments of the night. Hearing those songs live after listening to them throughout a good part of my teenage years felt genuinely special.
And then, of course, there was the pleasure of seeing Eddie in person for the first time.
The crowd reaction lived up to the occasion. Singing, mosh pits and constant energy: Club Soda was completely invested in the performance.
A NIGHT THAT DELIVERED
In the end, the evening offered exactly what the lineup had promised: four heavy bands, four different atmospheres and an especially energetic crowd.
Deadwood opened the night with a solid and effective performance. Mauled brought a serious dose of violence with its breakdowns and a completely wild pit. Carnifex showed why its experience on stage makes such a difference, while All Shall Perish delivered a particularly memorable conclusion.
For me, the night also had a personal dimension. Photographing a band that I have listened to since my teenage years and had never seen live before made All Shall Perish’s performance especially meaningful.
And after a night spent watching mosh pits, walls of death, body surfing and musicians giving everything they had on stage, one thing is certain: Club Soda did not exactly escape unscathed.
A brutal, energetic and nostalgia-filled night that certainly left more than a few sore necks the next morning.
