The Berry Shandy – Hommage à The Cranberries

Quand on va voir un hommage à The Cranberries, il y a une chose qu’on espère retrouver : cette voix particulière qui nous ramène instantanément à nos souvenirs. Avec The Berry Shandy, la voix était définitivement au rendez-vous.
Le groupe a offert une prestation énergique, sans toutefois tomber dans le « gros show » qui aurait peut-être moins bien collé à l’endroit. La formule de la soirée était parfaite pour une microbrasserie : une grande salle, mais une ambiance beaucoup plus intime grâce aux tables et aux places disponibles au bar. Tout le monde pouvait être assis, manger, prendre un verre et profiter de la musique. Bref, pas besoin de se battre pour une place devant la scène!
Ce que j’ai particulièrement aimé, c’est le contact avec le public. Il y avait quelque chose de très naturel dans la façon dont le groupe interagissait avec les spectateurs. On n’avait pas l’impression d’être simplement devant un groupe qui enchaînait les chansons. Il y avait un véritable échange avec la salle.
Et ça se voyait que les gens appréciaient. Ici, quelqu’un chantait à tue-tête, là, une personne bougeait timidement sur sa chaise, alors qu’un autre se contentait de taper du pied en suivant le rythme. Personnellement, je trouve que c’est souvent un bon indicateur de l’ambiance d’un spectacle : quand les gens commencent à chanter sans même s’en rendre compte, c’est que le groupe a réussi à les embarquer.
La formule souper-spectacle en microbrasserie ajoutait aussi beaucoup au charme de la soirée. Ce n’était pas nécessairement le genre de spectacle où tout le monde se lève pour danser devant la scène. C’était plutôt une soirée où on pouvait prendre le temps d’écouter, de discuter, de manger et de se laisser porter par les chansons.
Et finalement, c’est probablement ce que je retiens le plus de The Berry Shandy : ils ont réussi à faire revivre l’univers de The Cranberries tout en gardant une ambiance accessible et chaleureuse. Une belle dose de nostalgie, une bonne énergie sur scène et surtout, une salle qui semblait passer un très bon moment.
Une soirée qui donne envie de ressortir les vieux albums des Cranberries en rentrant à la maison… et de vérifier si on connaît vraiment les paroles aussi bien qu’on le croyait!

When you go see a tribute to The Cranberries, there’s one thing you hope to hear above all: that distinctive voice that instantly brings back memories. With The Berry Shandy, that voice was definitely there.
The band delivered an energetic performance without turning it into an over-the-top “big show,” which probably would have felt less suited to the venue. The format of the evening was perfect for a microbrewery: a large room, but a much more intimate atmosphere thanks to the tables and seating available at the bar. Everyone could sit down, eat, have a drink and enjoy the music. In short, no need to fight for a spot in front of the stage!
What I particularly enjoyed was the connection with the audience. There was something very natural about the way the band interacted with the crowd. It never felt like we were simply watching a group run through one song after another. There was a genuine exchange with the room.
And you could tell people were enjoying themselves. Over here, someone was singing at the top of their lungs; over there, someone was moving timidly in their chair, while someone else was simply tapping their foot to the beat. Personally, I think that’s often a good indicator of a show’s atmosphere: when people start singing without even realizing it, the band has succeeded in pulling them into the moment.
The dinner-and-show format in a microbrewery also added a lot to the charm of the evening. This wasn’t necessarily the kind of show where everyone gets up to dance in front of the stage. It was more of an evening where you could take your time, listen, talk, eat and let yourself be carried by the songs.
And in the end, that’s probably what I’ll remember most about The Berry Shandy: they managed to bring the world of The Cranberries back to life while keeping the atmosphere warm and accessible. A great dose of nostalgia, good energy on stage and, above all, a room that seemed to be having a very good time.
An evening that makes you want to pull out those old Cranberries albums when you get home… and check whether you really know the lyrics as well as you thought!
