Qui aurait cru qu’en 2026, j’allais photographier Deep Purple, un groupe formé en 1968! Et qu’en plus, ils continuent de sortir d’excellents albums!
D’ailleurs, Splat!, le plus récent, est bien représenté dans le show avec plusieurs pièces récentes, dont A Bit on the Side, Arrogant Boy, Lazy Sod et Diablo, que j’adore. Pour un groupe comme Purple, qui possède une discographie aussi impressionnante, ça démontre à quel point le groupe affectionne encore son matériel plus récent.
Évidemment, les classiques étaient également bien présents avec Highway Star, Into the Fire, Lazy, When a Blind Man Cries, Perfect Strangers, Space Truckin’, Smoke on the Water et Hush. Diablo a aussi réservé un beau moment avec la participation de David Freiberg et Cathy Richardson au chant.
Ian Gillan (80 ans), Roger Glover (80 ans) et Ian Paice (78 ans) sont toujours en pleine forme, et que dire de la voix de Gillan… incroyable. Il est la star de la soirée!
Accompagnés de Don Airey aux claviers et de l’excellent jeune prodige Simon McBride à la guitare, Deep Purple livre un spectacle digne de ce nom.

Kansas a su réchauffer la foule grâce à une prestation énergique qui contenait également un bon nombre de classiques. Point of Know Return, Play the Game Tonight, The Wall, Song for America, Dust in the Wind et, évidemment, Carry On Wayward Son faisaient notamment partie du programme. Un retour en salle pour Kansas après son passage au Festival d’été de Québec en 2024.
Juste avant, Jefferson Starship avait la tâche d’ouvrir la soirée. Le groupe a lui aussi puisé dans plusieurs classiques de son histoire, notamment Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now, We Built This City, Jane, Somebody to Love et, bien sûr, White Rabbit. Cette dernière rappellera d’ailleurs certains souvenirs aux amateurs de lutte en raison de son association avec le regretté Bray Wyatt. Malheureusement, je n’ai pas pu photographier le band.

Who would have thought that in 2026, I’d be photographing Deep Purple, a band formed in 1968! And on top of that, they’re still releasing excellent albums!
Their most recent album, Splat!, is well represented in the show with several newer songs, including A Bit on the Side, Arrogant Boy, Lazy Sod and Diablo, which I absolutely love. For a band like Purple, with such an impressive discography, it shows just how much they still enjoy playing their more recent material.
Of course, the classics were also well represented with Highway Star, Into the Fire, Lazy, When a Blind Man Cries, Perfect Strangers, Space Truckin’, Smoke on the Water and Hush. Diablo also delivered a great moment with David Freiberg and Cathy Richardson joining in on vocals.
Ian Gillan (80), Roger Glover (80) and Ian Paice (78) are still in great shape, and what can I say about Gillan’s voice… incredible. He was the star of the night!
Joined by Don Airey on keyboards and the excellent young guitar prodigy Simon McBride, Deep Purple delivered a performance worthy of the name.
Kansas warmed up the crowd with an energetic performance that also featured a great selection of classics. Point of Know Return, Play the Game Tonight, The Wall, Song for America, Dust in the Wind and, of course, Carry On Wayward Son were all part of the set. It was a return to an indoor venue for Kansas following their appearance at the Festival d’été de Québec in 2024.
Before that, Jefferson Starship had the task of opening the evening. The band also dipped into several classics from its history, including Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now, We Built This City, Jane, Somebody to Love and, of course, White Rabbit. The latter will certainly bring back some memories for wrestling fans due to its association with the late Bray Wyatt. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to photograph the band.
