Rock La Cauze – jour 2
De retour à la Terre des Jeunes, Rock La Cauze, à Victoriaville, a encore une fois tapé dans le mille avec un festival à la hauteur des attentes de ses festivaliers les plus fidèles.
L’ambiance était complètement folle, les gens étaient fins et beaux à voir, et la bouffe était délicieuse. Petite remarque cependant : j’ai trouvé étrange de retrouver la zone d’admission générale et la zone avant-scène inversées cette année.

Malevolence a réveillé la foule avec une énergie à tomber par terre. Énormément de festivaliers étaient déjà au rendez-vous malgré la chaleur de l’après-midi et le soleil tapant. C’était un groupe que je n’avais encore jamais vu et qui transmettait une envie pure de headbang. J’ai adoré.

Ensuite, au plus grand bonheur de mon photographe, François Morrisset, Machine Head est monté sur scène en demandant, durant sa performance, le plus gros mosh pit de l’univers. Les festivaliers étaient au rendez-vous pour répondre à la demande, malgré les 40 degrés qui frappaient le site. Les images projetées derrière les musiciens donnaient un bel effet en rappelant les thématiques des morceaux joués. C’était tout en simplicité, mais juste et puissant.

C’est Basterds qui a ensuite fait perdurer le party avec une brutalité sans pareil. Ce groupe québécois prouve une fois de plus que ceux d’ici savent se faire une place. D’ailleurs, le groupe a interprété son nouveau morceau, « Novembre », sorti en juin, qui aborde les moments plus difficiles que chacun d’entre nous doit traverser. Cette chanson était différente de ce que j’avais entendu d’eux jusqu’à présent et, sincèrement, j’ai adoré la fraîcheur de ce son tout récent. Ça promet pour la suite!

C’est avec August Burns Red que la foule s’est compactée davantage. Agglutinée vers l’avant, on voyait de moins en moins l’herbe au sol près des gates. Jake Luhrs courait d’un bord à l’autre de la scène et en occupait l’entièreté avec une énergie monstre. Le décor était simple, permettant ainsi de mettre tout l’accent sur l’énergie du groupe.

Le moment que j’attendais était définitivement l’arrivée d’Hollywood Undead. Et croyez-moi, je n’étais pas la seule!
Ce que j’aime le plus de ce band est son unité. Chaque membre participe aux chansons par la voix, apportant ce petit côté unique à la formation et contribuant à faire d’Hollywood Undead ce qu’il est aujourd’hui. Le groupe nous a accueillis avec des flammes d’un bout à l’autre de la scène et de la fumée crachée vers le ciel. Ils ont enchaîné leurs plus gros hits devant une foule des plus serrées et ont donné tout ce qu’ils avaient.

Les fans chantaient et rappaient en chœur avec eux. C’était magnifique.
De plus, le groupe a invité un fan sur scène pour jouer de la guitare avec eux. Cette personne se rappellera longtemps son passage à Rock La Cauze! Évidemment, Hollywood Undead ne serait pas Hollywood Undead sans un peu… beaucoup d’humour durant sa performance, comme un membre qui baisse ses pantalons, par exemple.
HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD (par Julie Voyer)
Killswitch Engage était, pour plusieurs, le groupe le plus attendu de la journée. La foule était au début plus calme, comme hypnotisée par les premières notes de « Fixation on the Darkness ». Mais ne vous inquiétez pas : ce moment n’a pas duré très longtemps! Les mosh pits et les headbangs sont rapidement revenus de plus belle, avec une énergie nouvelle.
Les spectateurs se sont d’ailleurs rués vers l’avant lorsque Jesse Leach est descendu de la scène pour rejoindre ses fans. Un moment qui a certainement fait monter la température d’un cran supplémentaire!
Encore une fois, Rock La Cauze a créé des moments incroyables. Personnellement, c’est mon festival préféré, et ça vaut amplement les trois heures de route pour faire partie de cette équipe magnifique.

Rock La Cauze – Day 2
Back at Terre des Jeunes, Rock La Cauze, in Victoriaville, once again hit the mark with a festival that lived up to the expectations of its most loyal festivalgoers.
The atmosphere was completely insane, the people were friendly and great to see, and the food was delicious. One small comment, however: I found it strange to see the general admission area and the front-of-stage area reversed this year.
Malevolence woke up the crowd with an incredible amount of energy. A huge number of festivalgoers were already there despite the afternoon heat and the blazing sun. It was a band I had never seen before, and they gave off a pure urge to headbang. I loved it.
Then, much to the delight of my photographer, François Morrisset, Machine Head took the stage and, during their performance, asked for the biggest mosh pit in the universe. The festivalgoers were more than ready to answer the call, despite the 40-degree heat hitting the site. The visuals projected behind the musicians created a great effect by reflecting the themes of the songs being played. It was simple, but accurate and powerful.
Basterds then kept the party going with unmatched brutality. This Quebec band proves once again that local acts know how to make their mark. The group also performed its new song, “Novembre,” released in June, which deals with the more difficult moments that each of us has to go through. This song was different from what I had heard from them so far and, sincerely, I loved the freshness of this brand-new sound. It looks very promising for what comes next!
With August Burns Red, the crowd became even more compact. Packed toward the front, you could see less and less grass on the ground near the barricades. Jake Luhrs ran from one side of the stage to the other and occupied the entire space with monstrous energy. The stage setup was simple, allowing all the focus to remain on the band’s energy.
The moment I was definitely waiting for was the arrival of Hollywood Undead. And believe me, I wasn’t the only one!
What I love most about this band is its unity. Every member contributes vocally to the songs, bringing that unique touch to the group and helping make Hollywood Undead what it is today. The band welcomed us with flames stretching from one end of the stage to the other and smoke blasting into the sky. They ran through their biggest hits in front of an extremely packed crowd and gave everything they had.
The fans sang and rapped along with them. It was beautiful.
The band also invited a fan onstage to play guitar with them. That person will remember their time at Rock La Cauze for a long time! Of course, Hollywood Undead wouldn’t be Hollywood Undead without a little… a lot of humor during their performance, such as one member pulling down his pants, for example.
For many, Killswitch Engage was the most anticipated band of the day. At first, the crowd was calmer, almost hypnotized by the opening notes of “Fixation on the Darkness.” But don’t worry: that moment didn’t last very long! The mosh pits and headbanging quickly came back stronger than ever, with renewed energy.
The spectators also rushed toward the front when Jesse Leach came down from the stage to join his fans. A moment that certainly raised the temperature another notch!
Once again, Rock La Cauze created some incredible moments. Personally, it’s my favorite festival, and it is absolutely worth the three-hour drive to be part of this amazing team.
