Après avoir été repoussé d’une journée vu le match de la Victoire, le groupe Electric Callboy a présenté le spectacle de la tournée TANZNIED World Tour à la Place Bell avec Scene Queen et Polaris en première partie.

Malheureusement, je suis arrivé trop tard pour assister à Scene Queen et à son Bimbocore, mais ce n’est que partie remise!

En ce qui concerne le groupe australien Polaris, je dois avouer que j’ai eu beaucoup de difficulté à apprécier la performance, mais ce n’est pas la faute du groupe. En effet, j’étais situé directement dans la ligne utilisée par les crowd surfers, ce qui m’a empêché de voir une bonne partie du spectacle. Cependant, de ce que j’ai vu, j’ai trouvé que les gars manquaient un peu d’énergie. Jamie Hails (chanteur) a offert une belle performance, mais j’aurais aimé les voir faire plus de déplacements sur scène, d’autant plus qu’ils avaient tout l’espace pour le faire. Au final, le groupe a offert une bonne prestation et la foule était enthousiaste avec ses mosh pits et ses crowd surfers.

POLARIS

C’est finalement à 9 h qu’Electric Callboy a débuté sa prestation. Pour son 3e passage à Montréal (et le 2e à la Place Bell), le groupe allemand a dû faire face à quelques imprévus : une blessure au pied pour Daniel Klossek (basse), l’absence de Pascal Schillo (guitare) pour des raisons personnelles/familiales et l’arrêt du spectacle à la suite d’un incident sur le parterre (heureusement, il semble que la personne était correcte lorsque le groupe a arrêté le morceau). Tous les membres du groupe avaient une énergie débordante et semblaient réellement heureux d’être présents. Même si les nombreux changements de costumes (7?) ont un peu cassé le rythme de la soirée, ils ont permis d’ajouter à la présence scénique du groupe. Niveau setlist, bien que le groupe n’ait aucun nouvel album depuis le dernier passage, les nouveaux singles ont été intégrés au spectacle sans pour autant toucher aux pistes plus populaires. Derrière le groupe se dressait un immense écran présentant des images en lien avec les chansons (ainsi que le solo de Frank Zummo (batteur)) et permettant de combler les temps morts nécessaires aux changements de costumes. Clairement, la foule avait hâte au spectacle et plusieurs spectateurs s’étaient déguisés pour l’occasion. Tout au long du spectacle, il y a eu des mosh pits, du crowd surfing et la foule chantait et dansait. D’ailleurs, les membres du groupe ont profité de l’occasion pour jouer deux chansons dans la foule. Bref, cette prestation était mémorable pour tous ceux qui étaient présents.

Si j’étais déçu d’avoir manqué les 2 autres prestations du groupe, je suis ravi d’avoir eu la chance d’y être cette fois. Il s’agit du genre de groupe qui mérite le déplacement et dont l’énergie est incroyable.

After being postponed by one day due to the Victoire game, Electric Callboy brought the TANZNIED World Tour to Place Bell with Scene Queen and Polaris as opening acts.

Unfortunately, I arrived too late to catch Scene Queen and her Bimbocore performance, but there will definitely be another opportunity!

As for Australian band Polaris, I have to admit that I had a hard time fully enjoying the performance, but it was not the band’s fault. I was standing directly in the path used by the crowd surfers, which prevented me from seeing a large portion of the show. However, from what I did see, I felt like the guys lacked a bit of energy. Jamie Hails (vocals) delivered a strong performance, but I would have liked to see them move around the stage more, especially since they had plenty of room to do so. In the end, the band still delivered a solid performance, and the crowd was enthusiastic with its mosh pits and crowd surfers.

It was finally at 9 PM that Electric Callboy took the stage. For their third visit to Montreal (and second at Place Bell), the German band had to deal with a few unexpected situations: a foot injury for Daniel « Danskimo » Haniß (guitarist), the absence of Pascal Schillo (guitar) for personal/family reasons, and a temporary stop to the show following an incident on the floor (fortunately, the person seemed to be okay when the band stopped the song). Every member of the group was overflowing with energy and genuinely seemed happy to be there. Even though the numerous costume changes (7?) slightly disrupted the flow of the evening, they added to the band’s stage presence. Setlist-wise, although the band has not released a new album since their last visit, the new singles were integrated into the show without removing any of the more popular tracks. Behind the band stood a massive screen displaying visuals related to the songs (as well as the drum solo by Frank Zummo) while also helping fill the downtime required for costume changes. Clearly, the crowd had been eagerly waiting for the show, and several attendees had dressed up for the occasion. Throughout the performance, there were mosh pits, crowd surfing, and the audience sang and danced along. The members of the band also took the opportunity to perform two songs directly in the crowd. Overall, this was a memorable performance for everyone in attendance.

While I was disappointed to have missed the band’s previous two performances, I am very happy to have finally had the chance to see them this time. This is the kind of band that is absolutely worth the trip, with an incredible level of energy.
