Festival Au Lac 2026 Here We Go!
Au début de cette 4ième édition du Festival Au Lac de Granby, laissez-moi vous dire une chose, les festivaliers sont prêts et les festivaliers ont hâte. À chaque année, j’essaie d’arriver assez tôt pour être certain de ne pas manquer le groupe local et cette année c’est au groupe Drop It First de briser la glace sous une température plus qu’agréable.
Le groupe québécois regroupe des membres de quelques formations telles que Our Darkest Days, Go Great Guns ainsi que Persistence. Présentant un punk rock mélodique qui me rappelle très bien le style de punk que No Use For A Name nous présentait, la formation de Vince Fournier débarque sur scène avec une énergie fulgurante. J’avais étudié leur premier album, Fundamentals, et j’avais adoré leur style. Ayant seulement un album à leur actif, il est certain qu’il sera bien présenté à un public à conquérir. On arrive sur le site pendant les deux dernières chansons. C’était parfait! On voit que la belle température donne envie aux festivaliers de faire le party! Next : The Planet Smashers!
DROP IT FIRST
Maintenant, les The Planet Smashers !
À chaque fois que j’ai la chance de les voir, c’est un party garanti. Avec des classiques comme Blind, Surfin’ in Tofino, Life of the Party et Super Orgy Porno Party, la formation a une fois de plus livré une performance à la hauteur de sa réputation. J’étais particulièrement heureux de les revoir, puisque ma dernière rencontre avec eux remontait au Festival 77 de Montréal. Depuis mes 16 ans, chaque spectacle des Planet Smashers est synonyme de plaisir et de bonne humeur.
J’ai aussi aimé entendre quelques chansons de leur plus récent album, notamment Meet Me on the Dance Floor et Can’t Stop Thinking About You. Une performance énergique et festive qui m’a permis de décrocher complètement et de replonger, le temps d’une soirée, dans l’ambiance des années 2000.
THE PLANET SMASHERS
J’avoue, je n’ai jamais été un grand connaisseur de la musique de GrimSkunk. J’ai écouté leurs plus grands succès avant le festival et, étonnamment, j’ai aimé leur matériel davantage qu’à l’époque où j’étais ado. J’étais beaucoup plus attentif à leur musique en 2026 que je ne l’étais en 2016.
Leur prestation a été super bien reçue et l’ambiance devant la scène semblait électrisante. Je suis convaincu que les groupes québécois ont une place de choix au Festival Au Lac en 2026. Plusieurs festivals décident de miser davantage sur des artistes américains, alors tant mieux si le FAL continue de mettre de l’avant les groupes locaux. Leur prestation a été de haut niveau.
GRIMSKUNK
Nous voilà pour The Bouncing Souls. Arrivant sur Forget About Me, la trame sonore du film The Breakfast Club, le groupe enchaîne ensuite avec le fameux « Ole Ole Ole » des Montréal Canadiens, et bien sûr, le pit devant la scène devient rapidement très actif.
Ce que je trouve le plus divertissant lors de cette journée de festival, c’est que pour plusieurs festivaliers, The Bouncing Souls sont une formation à découvrir. Pour ma part, j’adore leur album How I Spent My Summer Vacation, un disque que j’écoute depuis très longtemps.
Avec des chansons comme Manthem et Lean on Sheena, le groupe du New Jersey est en très grande forme ce soir. La température extérieure est parfaite et je suis plus qu’heureux de voir que les fans de Granby sont prêts à donner leur 110 % pendant le spectacle. Le groupe du New Jersey sortira un nouvel album dans les prochaines semaines et, évidemment, il en profite pour nous faire découvrir quelques chansons de son plus récent opus, Born to Be. Pour terminer, The Bouncing Souls concluent leur prestation avec True Believers et Gone, deux de leurs plus grands classiques.
THE BOUNCING SOULS
Less Than Jake, légende du punk ska des années 2000 originaire de Gainesville, en Floride, débarque devant un Granby en délire avec succès après succès, comme « All My Best Friends Are Metalheads », « The Science of Selling Yourself Short » et « Look What Happened ».
J’ai réussi à me faufiler à l’avant pendant quelques chansons alors que l’ambiance battait son plein, et j’ai même placé sur mes épaules une festivalière qui voulait profiter du pit pour bien voir le groupe. L’ambiance était à son comble au parc Daniel-Johnson. Ce que j’adore le plus du Festival au Lac, c’est que peu importe le spectacle, les festivaliers sont présents et donnent leur 110 %, peu importe l’heure qu’il est. Ce n’est que le début du festival et nous assistons déjà à un pit de qualité supérieure.
À chaque fois que j’ai la chance de voir un spectacle de Less Than Jake, cela me rend plus qu’heureux, car cette formation est magistrale. Terminant avec « Plastic Cup Politics » ainsi que « Gainesville Rock City », le groupe de Chris DeMakes et Roger Lima a livré une prestation de feu et je dois dire que j’ai vécu ma meilleure vie pendant un instant.

Festival Au Lac 2026, Here We Go!
At the beginning of this fourth edition of Granby’s Festival Au Lac, let me tell you one thing: the festivalgoers are ready, and they’re excited. Every year, I try to arrive early enough to make sure I don’t miss the local opening band, and this year it was Drop It First who had the task of breaking the ice under more-than-perfect weather conditions.
The Quebec band features members of groups such as Our Darkest Days, Go Great Guns, and Persistence. Delivering a melodic punk rock sound that strongly reminds me of the style No Use For A Name used to play, Vince Fournier and company hit the stage with explosive energy. I had checked out their debut album, Fundamentals, beforehand and absolutely loved their sound. With only one album under their belt, it was obvious that it would be heavily featured for a crowd they were looking to win over. We arrived on-site during the last two songs. Perfect timing! You could already tell that the beautiful weather had everyone in the mood to party. Next up: The Planet Smashers!
Now, The Planet Smashers!
Every time I get the chance to see them, it’s a guaranteed party. With classics such as Blind, Surfin’ in Tofino, Rise for the Party, and Super Orgy Porno Party, the band once again delivered a performance worthy of its reputation. I was particularly happy to see them again since the last time was at Montreal’s Festival 77. Since I was 16 years old, every Planet Smashers show has been synonymous with fun and good vibes.
I also enjoyed hearing a few songs from their latest album, including Meet Me on the Dance Floor and Can’t Stop Thinking About You. It was an energetic and festive performance that allowed me to completely unwind and, for one evening, dive back into the atmosphere of the 2000s.
I’ll admit it, I’ve never been a huge expert on GrimSkunk’s music. I listened to their greatest hits before the festival and, surprisingly, I enjoyed their material much more than I did when I was a teenager. I paid far more attention to their music in 2026 than I did in 2016.
Their performance was extremely well received, and the atmosphere in front of the stage felt electric. I’m convinced that Quebec bands have an important place at Festival Au Lac in 2026. Many festivals choose to focus more heavily on American artists, so it’s great to see FAL continuing to showcase local talent. Their performance was top-notch.
Now it’s time for The Bouncing Souls. Entering to Don’t You (Forget About Me), the iconic theme from The Breakfast Club, the band quickly followed it up with the famous « Ole Ole Ole » chant associated with the Montreal Canadiens, and of course, the pit in front of the stage immediately came to life.
One of the things I find most entertaining about this festival day is that, for many attendees, The Bouncing Souls are a band they’re discovering for the first time. Personally, I love their album How I Spent My Summer Vacation, a record I’ve been listening to for many years.
With songs such as Manthem and Lean on Sheena, the New Jersey outfit was in fantastic form tonight. The outdoor temperature was perfect, and I couldn’t have been happier to see Granby fans ready to give 110% throughout the show. The band will be releasing a new album in the coming weeks, and naturally they took the opportunity to introduce a few songs from their latest effort, Born to Be. To close out their set, The Bouncing Souls finished with True Believers and Gone, two of their biggest classics.

I managed to squeeze my way to the front for a few songs while the atmosphere was at its peak, and I even lifted a festivalgoer onto my shoulders so she could get a better view of the band from the pit. The energy at Daniel-Johnson Park was absolutely incredible. What I love most about Festival Au Lac is that no matter who’s playing, the crowd always shows up and gives 110%, regardless of the time of day. It’s only the beginning of the festival, and we’re already witnessing pits of the highest quality.
Every time I get the chance to see Less Than Jake, it makes me incredibly happy because this band is simply outstanding. Closing with Plastic Cup Politics and Gainesville Rock City, Chris DeMakes, Roger Lima, and company delivered a blazing performance, and I have to say, for a moment, I was living my best life.
