Profitant d’une journée de congé durant leur tournée en ouverture de Avatar, Fleshgod Apocalypse a décidé de faire un arrêt rapide à Montréal au Théâtre Beanfield. Du gros death metal symphonique en plein lundi soir à Montréal? Pourquoi pas! Fidèle à ses habitudes, Fleshgod Apocalypse est la définition même de l’intensité, autant musicalement que visuellement. Entre les orchestrations grandioses, les passages ultra techniques et l’énergie débordante sur scène, le groupe a offert une performance impressionnante du début à la fin.

Le groupe en a également profité pour amener Frozen Soul, qui vient tout juste de lancer son excellent nouvel album No Place of Warmth. C’était l’occasion idéale d’entendre ce nouveau matériel en spectacle. D’ailleurs, nous avons récemment réalisé une entrevue avec eux en compagnie de Chad Green [ entrevue ici ]. Encore une fois, le groupe a livré une prestation brutale et intense, avec son death metal lourd et écrasant qui a rapidement conquis la foule montréalaise.
FROZEN SOUL
En ouverture, le groupe québécois Obscuris Romancia a su faire tripper les amateurs déjà arrivés sur place. Avec son mélange de death metal symphonique et d’éléments black metal, la formation a offert une excellente performance pour débuter la soirée. Honnêtement, ce serait vraiment bien de voir Obscuris Romancia plus régulièrement sur les tournées de ce genre au Québec.
Bien que l’éclairage n’ait pas toujours été à la hauteur du spectacle, on peut dire que le show valait largement le détour!

Taking advantage of a day off during their tour opening for Avatar, Fleshgod Apocalypse decided to make a quick stop in Montreal at Theatre Beanfield. Massive symphonic death metal on a Monday night in Montreal? Why not! True to their reputation, Fleshgod Apocalypse is the very definition of intensity, both musically and visually. Between the grand orchestral arrangements, ultra-technical passages, and overwhelming stage energy, the band delivered an impressive performance from beginning to end.
The band also brought along Frozen Soul, who recently released their excellent new album No Place of Warmth. It was the perfect opportunity to hear this new material live. We also recently had the chance to interview them with Chad Green. Once again, the band delivered a brutal and intense set, with their crushing and heavy death metal quickly winning over the Montreal crowd.
Opening the evening was Quebec band Obscuris Romancia, who managed to get the early crowd fully engaged. With their blend of symphonic death metal and black metal elements, the band delivered a strong performance to kick off the night. Honestly, it would be great to see Obscuris Romancia featured more regularly on tours like this in Quebec.
Although the lighting was not always on par with the performance itself, it is safe to say the show was absolutely worth it!
