Le 6 février 2026, le Piranha Bar a accueilli la première ronde du Wacken Metal Battle Canada à Montréal, une soirée où quatre groupes ont rivalisé pour décrocher leur place au round suivant.
L’ambiance était plutôt calme lorsque Hatestinger est monté sur scène, la salle étant à moitié vide et baignée d’une lumière tamisée qui laissait flotter un léger écho dans l’air. Les quelques spectateurs présents chuchotaient entre eux, encore distraits par leurs boissons et par l’attente. Cependant, dès les premières notes, l’énergie brute du groupe a explosé, riffs agressifs, batterie percutante et voix rauque ont traversé la salle comme une vague. Peu à peu, les têtes ont commencé à hocher au rythme de la musique, les curieux se sont approchés, et la foule a gonflé, captivée par la puissance de la performance qui transformait l’atmosphère en un tourbillon électrique.
HATEFINGER
En deuxième, Ressac a pris le relais avec un son plus sombre et atmosphérique, enveloppant la salle d’une intensité presque palpable. Les basses profondes faisaient vibrer le plancher, des percussions réverbérantes créant une ambiance immersive. Chaque morceau semblait raconter une histoire, ralentissant par moments pour laisser flotter une tension subtile, puis repartant avec des rythmes plus puissants. La foule, de plus en plus dense, se balançait au rythme des beats, captivée par cette atmosphère presque cinématographique, où l’on sentait l’air chargé d’énergie et de curiosité. Le batteur, couvert d’une cagoule, rajoutait à cette atmosphère.
RESSAC
Forbidden Order a ensuite proposé un set précis et maîtrisé, enchaînant les morceaux avec une fluidité impressionnante qui captait l’attention du public à chaque instant. Les premières notes ont installé une ambiance électrisante, tandis que les rythmes soutenus et les variations subtiles créaient un crescendo d’intensité palpable dans la salle. Le chanteur, se déplaçant avec énergie sur toute la scène, interagissait constamment avec les spectateurs, captivés par l’énergie et la précision des musiciens.
FORBIDDEN ORDER
Enfin, Stregoneria, dernier groupe de la soirée, a livré une performance enragée et charismatique, mêlant des riffs de guitare puissants, une batterie explosive et une présence scénique captivante. Les lumières et effets visuels accentuaient encore l’intensité du spectacle, transformant la salle en véritable tempête sonore et lumineuse. Cette prestation électrisante a littéralement conquis l’audience, qui en redemandait à la fin du concert.
STREGONERIA
Le jury, composé de Luc Laine (Alerte Métallique), Benoit Lelièvre (Vox & Hops, Ubania), Pierre Beaubien (Décibel Métal), Andrew Wieler (Metal Director) et Adrien Bergrand (Décibel Magazine), avait la lourde tâche de départager les groupes.
Le moment fort de la soirée est survenu lorsque Stregoneria a été couronné gagnant, confirmant l’énergie explosive ressentie lors de leur prestation.
En résumé, cette première ronde du Wacken Metal Battle Canada à Montréal a offert une progression spectaculaire, d’une salle presque vide à une soirée enflammée, portée par le talent des groupes et l’engouement croissant du public.

On February 6, 2026, the Piranha Bar hosted the first round of the Wacken Metal Battle Canada in Montreal, an evening where four bands competed for a spot in the next round.
The atmosphere was fairly calm when Hatestinger took the stage, with the venue half full and bathed in dim lighting that allowed a faint echo to linger in the air. The few spectators present were chatting among themselves, still distracted by their drinks and the anticipation. However, from the very first notes, the band’s raw energy exploded, aggressive riffs, pounding drums, and harsh vocals tore through the room like a wave. Gradually, heads began to nod to the rhythm, curious onlookers moved closer, and the crowd grew, captivated by the power of a performance that transformed the atmosphere into an electric whirlwind.
Second up, Ressac took over with a darker, more atmospheric sound, enveloping the room in an intensity that was almost tangible. Deep bass lines made the floor vibrate, while reverberating percussion created an immersive ambiance. Each song felt like it was telling a story, slowing down at times to let a subtle tension linger, then surging forward with more powerful rhythms. The crowd, growing denser, swayed to the beats, drawn into this almost cinematic atmosphere where the air felt charged with energy and curiosity. The drummer, wearing a hood, added to this atmosphere.
Forbidden Order then delivered a precise and controlled set, chaining songs together with impressive fluidity that held the audience’s attention at every moment. The opening notes established an electrifying mood, while the driving rhythms and subtle variations built a palpable crescendo of intensity throughout the room. The vocalist, moving energetically across the entire stage, constantly interacted with the crowd, captivated by the musicians’ energy and precision.
Finally, Stregoneria, the last band of the night, delivered a fierce and charismatic performance, blending powerful guitar riffs, explosive drumming, and a commanding stage presence. The lighting and visual effects further amplified the intensity of the show, turning the venue into a true sonic and visual storm. This electrifying performance completely won over the audience, who were left wanting more at the end of the set.
The jury, composed of Luc Laine (Alerte Métallique), Benoit Lelièvre (Vox & Hops, Ubania), Pierre Beaubien (Décibel Métal), Andrew Wieler (Metal Director), and Adrien Bergrand (Décibel Magazine), had the difficult task of choosing between the bands.
The highlight of the evening came when Stregoneria was crowned the winner, confirming the explosive energy felt during their performance.
In summary, this first round of the Wacken Metal Battle Canada in Montreal offered a remarkable progression, from a nearly empty room to a fiery night, driven by the talent of the bands and the growing enthusiasm of the crowd.
