FEQ – Jour 4
Soirée off, si on peut dire!
Dans ce temps-là, je profite de mon privilège d’accès média et je me promène pour voir si je ne ferais pas de belles découvertes musicales. J’adore faire ça, et encore cette année, le FEQ m’a fait découvrir des trucs que je n’aurais pas écoutés!! Au fond, c’est le mandat initial du FEQ!
On commence sur les Plaines et The Brooks!
Excellent band funk de Montréal. Leur dernier single se nomme If You Want Me To Stay et il est sorti en août 2025.
THE BROOKS
On s’en va par la suite sur Georges V où une multitude d’excellents bands se succèdent!
J’arrive juste à temps pour attraper une toune de Bricknasty. Encore une fois, des musiciens qui maîtrisent leurs instruments! Directement d’Irlande, ils mélangent les styles avec brio. Le groupe vient d’ailleurs de lancer son nouvel EP BLACKS LAW, un projet où se croisent soul, groove, folk et sonorités plus expérimentales. Une approche franchement éclatée qui cadre parfaitement avec ce qu’on voit sur scène!
BRICKNASTY
Ensuite… wow… Haute & Freddy! Composé de Michelle Buzz et Lance Shipp, le duo nous transporte directement dans un univers électronique théâtral et synthétique aux fortes influences des années 80. Leur premier album, Big Disgrace, mélange énergie de club underground et théâtralité, et ça fonctionne franchement bien sur scène. Un coup de cœur pour moi!
HAUTE & FREDDY
On termine avec le phénomène de Québec, Les Louanges, le projet de Vincent Roberge. Véritable poète inspiré par D’Angelo, Gorillaz et Leonard Cohen, il mélange funk moderne, soul et pop avec une identité bien à lui. Assez spécial, mais le gars a un talent évident!!

FEQ – Day 4
A night off, if we can call it that!
At times like this, I take advantage of my media access privileges and wander around to see if I might make some great musical discoveries. I love doing that, and once again this year, the FEQ has introduced me to things I probably would not have listened to!! Deep down, that’s the FEQ’s original mission!
We start on the Plains with The Brooks!
Excellent funk band from Montreal. Their latest single is called If You Want Me To Stay and was released in August 2025.
We then head over to Georges-V, where a multitude of excellent bands follow one another!
I arrive just in time to catch one song from Bricknasty. Once again, musicians who truly master their instruments! Coming straight from Ireland, they blend styles brilliantly. The band also recently released its new EP BLACKS LAW, a project where soul, groove, folk and more experimental sounds come together. A truly wild approach that perfectly matches what we see on stage!
Then… wow… Haute & Freddy! Made up of Michelle Buzz and Lance Shipp, the duo takes us straight into a theatrical and synthetic electronic universe with strong 1980s influences. Their debut album, Big Disgrace, blends underground club energy and theatricality, and it works really well on stage. A personal favourite for me!
We finish with the Quebec City phenomenon Les Louanges, the project of Vincent Roberge. A true poet inspired by D’Angelo, Gorillaz and Leonard Cohen, he blends modern funk, soul and pop with an identity all his own. Pretty unusual, but the guy clearly has talent!!
