BIFFY CLYRO, DE L’ÉNERGIE À REVENDRE
Après ARCHIVE, un autre band que je suis depuis plus de 20 ans, que j’ai enfin l’occasion de voir et de photographier. BIFFY CLYRO, si vous ne connaissez pas, ça ressemble étrangement à FOO FIGHTERS. Un peu plus varié dans le style, mais les ressemblances sont là.
Quoi dire, aucun artifice, lumières sobres, que la musique et une énergie contagieuse, portée par son leader guitariste-chanteur Simon Nell. Et que dire de la foule! Elle a chanté tout le long de la soirée. Tous ces éléments réunis me permettent de dire sans hésitation que j’ai vu l’un des meilleurs shows de l’année, et même des 10 dernières années tellement c’était bon.
BIFFY CLYRO
En Europe, BIFFY CLYRO est très populaire, tête d’affiche de plusieurs festivals prestigieux. Ici, le groupe est trop méconnu, mais c’est tant mieux pour nous, ça nous permet de les voir dans de petites salles comme le Beanfield. Et ça paraît qu’ils sont gros, ils jouent avec une assurance et les pièces sont jouées à la perfection. L’autre aspect qui m’a frappé, ils n’ont pas autant de fans ici au Canada et aux USA, mais ceux qui les aiment en raffolent et chantent toutes les chansons! Quelle soirée parfaite!
En ouverture, un duo dans le style Smashing Pumpkins nommé RAUE a su réchauffer la salle et nous convaincre qu’on peut faire du bruit à deux!
Une soirée que je n’oublierai pas de si tôt!

BIFFY CLYRO, ENDLESS ENERGY
After ARCHIVE, another band I’ve been following for over 20 years that I finally had the chance to see and photograph. If you don’t know BIFFY CLYRO, they strangely sound a lot like FOO FIGHTERS. A little more varied stylistically, but the similarities are definitely there.
What can I say, no gimmicks, simple lighting, just music and contagious energy carried by their guitarist-singer frontman Simon Nell. And what about the crowd! They sang throughout the entire evening. All these elements combined allow me to say without hesitation that I witnessed one of the best shows of the year, and even of the last 10 years, it was that good.
In Europe, BIFFY CLYRO are extremely popular, headlining several prestigious festivals. Here, the band is too underrated, but that’s actually great for us because it allows us to see them in smaller venues like Beanfield. And you can tell they are huge, they perform with confidence and the songs are played perfectly. Another aspect that struck me is that they may not have as many fans here in Canada and the USA, but those who love them absolutely adore them and sing every single song! What a perfect evening!
Opening the night was a duo in the style of Smashing Pumpkins called RAUE, who managed to warm up the crowd and prove that you can make noise with only two people!
An evening I won’t forget anytime soon!
