Vendredi 13 mars, le Piranha Bar vibrait au rythme du métal pour la troisième ronde montréalaise du Wacken Metal Battle Canada. Quatre formations de la scène metal québécoise se sont affrontées devant un public survolté, chacune livrant une performance intense pour tenter de décrocher leur place pour la finale nationale.
La soirée s’est ouverte avec Wodos, groupe de old school thrash metal de la ville de Québec, qui a rapidement plongé la salle dans une ambiance sombre et agressive. Avec une approche ancrée dans l’âge d’or du thrash, le groupe nous montre un son aussi incisif que féroce. Riffs rapides et énergie brute se mêlent pour livrer une performance où l’intensité ne retombe jamais.
WODOS
En deuxième position, BornBroken, de Montréal, est monté sur scène avec une assurance visible. Leur prestation était vraiment impressionnante, un mélange parfait de technique et d’énergie brute. Les riffs étaient bien définis et la voix du chanteur était puissante, ce qui a vraiment captivé la foule. Solide performance.
BORNBROKEN
Red Raven Chaos a pris la scène pour la troisième partie de la soirée, nous offrant un mélange captivant de métal lourd et atmosphérique, agrémenté de passages mélodiques. Clairement, beaucoup de talent au sein de leur formation. Leur présence scénique affirmée a su charmer les fans de métal plus nuancé, créant une ambiance unique. Une prestation qui témoigne de la vitalité de la scène metal de Montréal.
RED RAVEN CHAOS
Enfin, originaire de Val-des-Sources, Obscure Mantra a offert une performance intense et immersive. Des passages de guitares lourds, texturés et viscéraux, avec une énergie captivante pour clore la soirée. Le groupe a maintenu une intensité remarquable tout au long de son show, enchaînant avec brio des passages rapides et des moments plus puissants, le tout synchronisé avec leur propre éclairage, créant ainsi une expérience sonore et visuelle immersive et mémorable.
OBSCURE MANTRA
Après délibération, le jury a couronné BornBroken grands gagnants de ce round, leur prestation maîtrisée ayant clairement fait la différence. Ils poursuivront donc leur route vers les étapes suivantes de la compétition, laissant derrière eux un public conquis et impatient de voir la suite du Wacken Metal Battle Canada à Montréal.

On Friday, March 13, Piranha Bar was vibrating to the sound of metal for the third Montreal round of the Wacken Metal Battle Canada. Four bands from the Quebec metal scene faced off in front of an electrified crowd, each delivering an intense performance in hopes of securing a spot in the national final.
The evening opened with Wodos, an old school thrash metal band from Quebec City, who quickly plunged the venue into a dark and aggressive atmosphere. With an approach rooted in the golden age of thrash, the band delivered a sound as sharp as it was fierce. Fast riffs and raw energy came together in a performance where the intensity never let up.
Second on stage, BornBroken, from Montreal, came in with visible confidence. Their performance was truly impressive, a perfect blend of technique and raw energy. The riffs were tight and well-defined, and the vocalist’s powerful delivery truly captivated the crowd. A solid performance.
Red Raven Chaos took the stage for the third part of the night, offering a captivating mix of heavy and atmospheric metal, enhanced by melodic passages. There is clearly a lot of talent within their ranks. Their strong stage presence charmed fans of more nuanced metal, creating a unique atmosphere. A performance that highlights the vitality of Montreal’s metal scene.
Finally, hailing from Val-des-Sources, Obscure Mantra delivered an intense and immersive performance. Heavy, textured and visceral guitar passages combined with captivating energy to close out the night. The band maintained remarkable intensity throughout their set, seamlessly shifting between fast sections and more powerful moments, all synchronized with their own lighting, creating a truly immersive and memorable audio-visual experience.
After deliberation, the jury crowned BornBroken as the winners of this round, their controlled and polished performance clearly setting them apart. They now move on to the next stages of the competition, leaving behind a captivated audience eager to see what’s next in the Wacken Metal Battle Canada in Montreal.
