Le metalcore, depuis quelques années, ne cesse de gagner en popularité. Le mélange des styles, de plus en plus évident, rend cette musique toujours plus accessible. Ça m’a pris quelques années à embarquer, mais là, j’y suis. Vraiment. Il y a des bands qui se démarquent, et FIT FOR A KING (FFAK) en est un excellent exemple. Ils étaient au superbe Olympia de Montréal mercredi dernier.
Je n’avais aucune attente pour ce show, à l’exception d’un excellent album, Lonely God, paru il y a quelques mois. Et croyez-moi, ça m’a pris tout le trajet du retour pour me remettre de mes émotions tellement ils ont donné un spectacle incroyable.
Éclairage à la fine pointe, un setlist comprenant Lonely God au complet, et une exécution parfaite. Tous les musiciens, à part le drummer, chantent, ce qui donne une richesse rarement vue dans ce genre de show.
Bref, j’aimais FFAK avant, mais après ce spectacle, je me permets de dire… non, je les adore.
Sans aucun doute, l’un de mes meilleurs shows de l’année.
FIT FOR A KING
Je suis arrivé au deuxième band malheureusement, qui était SPITE, et wow! Beaucoup plus agressif que le reste du lineup, mais drôlement efficace. Une intensité encore plus marquée depuis la sortie de New World Killer le 31 octobre 2025 via Rise Records. C’était un bon moment pour le présenter au public! SPITE a joué 4 chansons tirées de ce nouvel album ; New World Killer, Lights Out, Shallow et Shedding Skin.

Ensuite, l’excellent MAKE THEM SUFFER a littéralement mis la table et livré un show parfait.

Metalcore has been gaining popularity for several years now. The blend of styles, increasingly noticeable, makes this music more and more accessible.
It took me a few years to truly get into it, but now I’m all in. Really. Some bands stand out, and FIT FOR A KING (FFAK) is a perfect example. They were at the beautiful Olympia in Montreal last Wednesday.
I had no expectations for this show, aside from knowing their excellent album Lonely God, released a few months ago. And believe me, it took me the entire drive home to recover from the emotions they delivered with such an incredible performance.
Cutting-edge lighting, a setlist featuring Lonely God in full, and flawless execution. All the musicians sing, except the drummer, adding a richness rarely heard in shows of this genre.
In short, I already liked FFAK, but after this show, I can honestly say… no, I love them.
Without a doubt, one of my best shows of the year.
I unfortunately arrived during the second band, which was SPITE, and wow! Much more aggressive than the rest of the lineup, yet incredibly effective. Their intensity feels even sharper since the release of New World Killer on October 31, 2025 via Rise Records. It was the perfect moment to showcase it to the crowd. SPITE performed four songs from the new album: “New World Killer,” “Lights Out,” “Shallow,” and “Shedding Skin.”
Then MAKE THEM SUFFER came in and completely set the tone, delivering a perfect performance.
