C’était une soirée en rouge et noir samedi le 24 mai au QG. Même la Fonderie Horne a craché un panache de fumée noire une heure avant le début des hostilités, comme pour annoncer l’apocalypse qui allait s’abattre sur Rouyn-Noranda pendant le Festival des Guitares du Monde.
Intonate a entamé la soirée après avoir parcouru les 638 km qui séparent Montréal de la Capitale nationale du cuivre. Le groupe livre un tech death groovy avec quelques accents de thrash et de black. Son passage a été fort apprécié par le public de Rouyn-Noranda.

Puis l’Apokalypse, comme dans I, APOKALYPSE, a fait son arrivée lorsque le band abitibien a foulé les planches du QG. Le groupe de blackened death, sur le point d’entrer en studio, a présenté quelques nouveautés ainsi que des pièces de Destroyer of Worlds.

Le terrain était alors prêt pour la tonitruante prestation de Phobocosm.
Phobocosm, dont le death puise allègrement dans un doom écrasant, livre une musique plus lourde que du neutronium (oui, je me permets une petite plogue de physique). Phobocosm transmet son atmosphère apocalyptique à travers ses riffs qui pourraient étouffer des néophytes de la musique metal. Le QG, baigné dans une obscurité aux lueurs enflammées, s’est laisse emporter dans une profonde transe le temps de 8 pièces puissantes.

It was an evening painted in red and black at QG on Saturday, May 24. Even the Horne Smelter belched out a plume of black smoke an hour before the beginning of hostilities, as if to herald the apocalypse that was about to descend on Rouyn-Noranda during the Festival des Guitares du Monde.
Intonate kicked off the evening after covering the 638 km between Montreal and the La Capitale nationale du cuivre (the “National Copper Capital”). The band delivers a groovy tech death with a hint of thrash and black. The Rouyn-Noranda crowd really appreciated their performance.
Then came the Apokalypse, as in I, APOKALYPSE, when the band from Abitibi took over the QG stage. The band delivers a solid blackened death and is also about to enter the studio to record a new album. I, APOKALYPSE presented some new material as well as songs from Destroyer of Worlds.
The stage was then set for Phobocosm’s thunderous performance.
Phobocosm, whose death music draws from crushing doom, delivers a music heavier than neutronium (yes, I’ll allow myself a physics reference). Phobocosm conveys its apocalyptic atmosphere through riffs that would suffocate metal neophytes. The QG, bathed in darkness with a hint of a fiery glow, let themselves be carried away in a deep trance for 8 extremely powerful tracks.
