IT CALLS ME BY NAME – Wage War, un groupe ne pouvant être oublié
Le nouvel EP de Wage War sortira avec une proposition bien à eux. On parle ici de cinq chansons mises à l’épreuve, prêtes à nous faire entrer en plein dans leur monde musical complètement fou.
4X4
Une chanson catchy, mais lourde, qui rappelle un peu Manic. Parfaite pour headbang, des sons caverneux et étranges qui nous donnent envie de voir à quoi ça ressemblera en show. Je ne sais pas si je m’attache à cette chanson.
Blindfold
Une rythmique complètement différente. J’ai l’impression de suivre une vague, d’être sous leur emprise. C’est une chanson qui nous donne envie de chanter, de sortir les flashlights. « Keep your hooks in me, never set me free » sera une phrase qui me restera clairement étampée dans la tête parce que j’écouterai cette chanson en boucle dès qu’elle sortira.
KARMA
Une chanson dont le titre est crié dès le début, très Wage War, on dit oui. Un mystère dans la voix qui s’assume de plus en plus et qui se saccade après le refrain. On se prépare à se battre et seulement à certains petits bouts de chanson, on se lance. J’aime où cet EP s’en va. Elle donne un effet de bounce au pont qui est très apprécié de mon côté. Et que dire du BLEGH!…
PURIFY
Après les deux dernières chansons, on dirait que le début de celle-ci me laisse indifférente, mais quand elle embarque, elle ne nous lâche pas. Je persiste quand même à dire qu’elle ne sort pas du lot, sauf peut-être pour les screams qui déchirent les poumons de manière convaincante.
SONG OF THE SWAMP
Je partirais une wall of death au début de ce morceau. Il a aussi un bon rythme pour un headbang ou un pit qui fesse. Elle montre une attitude agressive avec des punchs aux bons endroits. Et sérieusement, j’aime les sons de la nature qui se mêlent aux sons lourds des instruments, le contraste est très cool, je trouve.
Bref, un EP qui marque et qui montre que l’ascension de Wage War n’est que la pointe de l’iceberg. Wage War a plus d’un tour dans son sac. Restez à l’affût, car je sens que le prochain album nous mettra dans tous nos états.

The new EP from Wage War arrives with a sound and identity entirely their own. We’re talking about five songs put to the test, ready to pull us deep into their completely insane musical world.
4X4
A catchy yet heavy track that somewhat recalls Manic. Perfect for headbanging, with cavernous and strange sounds that make you wonder what this will sound like live. I’m still not sure if I’m fully attached to this song.
Blindfold
A completely different rhythm. I feel like I’m riding a wave, completely under their control. It’s the kind of song that makes you want to sing along and pull out the flashlights. “Keep your hooks in me, never set me free” is definitely a line that’ll stay stuck in my head because I’ll be looping this song as soon as it comes out.
KARMA
A song whose title is screamed right from the start, very Wage War, and we’re absolutely here for it. There’s a mystery in the vocals that becomes more and more confident before breaking apart after the chorus. You get ready for battle and only at certain moments does the song fully explode. I really like where this EP is heading. The bridge has a bounce effect that I personally love. And what about that BLEGH!…
PURIFY
After the previous two songs, the beginning of this one leaves me a bit indifferent, but once it kicks in, it doesn’t let go. I still feel like it doesn’t stand out as much, except maybe for the screams that sound absolutely lung-destroying in the best possible way.
SONG OF THE SWAMP
I’d start a wall of death the second this song begins. It also has a great rhythm for headbanging or a crushing pit. The track carries an aggressive attitude with impactful punches placed exactly where they should be. And honestly, I love the nature sounds blending with the heaviness of the instruments, the contrast is really cool in my opinion.
Overall, this is an EP that leaves a mark and proves that Wage War’s rise is only the tip of the iceberg. Wage War clearly has more tricks up its sleeve. Stay tuned, because I have a feeling the next album is going to put us through every possible emotion.
