Originaire du Danemark, EMPIRE DROWNS sortira son deuxième album intitulé Endless Nights le 31 octobre 2025 via Mighty Music. À travers des atmosphères sombres et immersives, le groupe revient avec neuf nouvelles compositions. Inspiré par des formations telles que Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride ou Anathema, on retrouve ce côté doom/death/gothic metal poignant et profondément mélodique.
Dès les premières notes de Volcanic Funeral, qui s’avère aussi l’une des meilleures chansons de l’album, on apprécie rapidement la diversité des influences, avec même un petit feeling à la mélancolique issu du metal scandinave. De son côté, A Choir of Fallen Angels introduit la facette plus théâtrale du groupe, portée par les puissants claviers d’Anders Ro Nielsen, particulièrement mis en valeur sur cette sortie. On demeure néanmoins dans un univers doom/gothic, où la lenteur rime avec intensité.
Au niveau du chant, Empire Drowns ne se limite pas. Évidemment, la lourdeur vocale de Michael Hvolgaard Andersen domine, et avec raison, mais le groupe explore plusieurs contrastes. Que ce soit la double-caisse de Kim Jørgensen sur Doomsday Clock ou l’ambiance planante de Stoneheart, Endless Nights offre un équilibre entre puissance et émotion.
L’album a été enregistré par Marco Angioni (Tygers of Pan Tang, Thorium) aux Angioni Studios, puis mixé et masterisé par Tue Madsen aux Antfarm Studios (Moonspell, The Haunted, Baest). Le résultat est une production profonde et enveloppante, qui renforce à la fois le poids et la nuance du son d’Empire Drowns.
Alors que l’hiver approche et que la noirceur s’installe plus tôt chaque jour, Endless Nights devient sans contredit la bande sonore idéale pour accompagner cette mélancolie saisonnière.
