Nouvel album du groupe originaire de la Caroline du Nord, Between The Buried And Me, intitulé The Blue Nowhere, disponible le 12 septembre 2025 via Century Media.
Un album très immersif, avec, comme à l’habitude, des morceaux plutôt longs et de fréquents changements de rythme. Tantôt doux, tantôt très mouvementé — comme l’explique le chanteur Tommy Rogers : « L’album n’appartient pas à une histoire. » Il décrit même certaines chansons comme « parfois chaotiques ».
Dès la première piste, Things We Tell Ourselves In The Dark, ça démarre fort. On commence avec un groove accrocheur, mais rapidement, le tempo s’accélère. Entre tout ça, des passages de batterie ultra-rapides, des growls gutturaux… La chanson suivante, God Terror, déjà plus agressive, illustre parfaitement ce côté « chaotique » propre au style du groupe.
Gros coup de cœur pour Absent Thereafter. Une pièce qui fait vivre toute une gamme d’émotions pendant ses dix minutes vingt-neuf de pur plaisir. Malgré la longueur des titres, je vous garantis que vous ne vous endormirez pas en écoutant du BTBAM. Une twist n’attend pas l’autre.
La piste Mirador Uncoil m’a beaucoup fait rire — je vous laisse la surprise du pourquoi !
Quant à la chanson-titre de l’album, vous allez l’adorer. Clairement l’une de mes préférées du lot, avec son ton triste et mélancolique. Beaucoup d’émotion est mise dans la fin de l’album.
En résumé, The Blue Nowhere est un excellent mélange de douceur, de brutalité, de lenteur, de vitesse — et de tout ce qu’il y a entre les deux.
Un excellent album à mon avis, et j’espère que beaucoup seront d’accord avec moi.

New album from North Carolina’s Between The Buried And Me, titled The Blue Nowhere, available September 12, 2025 via Century Media.
A very immersive album, with, as usual, rather long tracks and frequent rhythm changes. Sometimes soft, sometimes very intense — as vocalist Tommy Rogers explains: “The album doesn’t belong to a story.” He even describes some songs as “sometimes chaotic.”
Right from the first track, Things We Tell Ourselves In The Dark, it starts off strong. It opens with a catchy groove, but the tempo quickly picks up. Mixed in are ultra-fast drum passages, guttural growls… The next song, God Terror, already more aggressive, perfectly illustrates that “chaotic” side so typical of the band’s style.
A real favorite for me is Absent Thereafter. A track that takes you through a wide range of emotions over its ten minutes and twenty-nine seconds of pure enjoyment. Despite the length of the songs, I guarantee you won’t fall asleep listening to BTBAM. One twist follows another.
The track Mirador Uncoil really made me laugh — I’ll leave the surprise to you as to why!
As for the album’s title track, you’re going to love it. Clearly one of my favorites of the bunch, with its sad and melancholic tone. A lot of emotion is poured into the end of the album.
In short, The Blue Nowhere is an excellent blend of softness, brutality, slowness, speed — and everything in between.
An excellent album in my opinion, and I hope many will agree with me.
