Écrit durant une période de transition, le premier album de Roxanne Izzo avec Hell For Breakfast est une œuvre indie rock existentielle, aux influences allant du post-punk au jangle pop. Mêlant références culturelles — de Marshall McLuhan à The Ecstasy of Santa Teresa de Bernini — et accroches pop immédiates et entêtantes, l’univers de Roxanne se veut empreint d’observation.
« Qu’est-ce que la vie, sinon une leçon payée au prix de la perception ? » lance Roxanne Izzo avant d’entamer le refrain fédérateur de Alternate Reality , un hymne contestataire Gen Z sur la vie au sein d’un système perçu comme fondamentalement brisé.
Au fil des 12 titres, Roxanne aborde des thèmes tels que la solitude, les tourments de la création, le destin et la préservation de son intégrité face à un monde en déliquescence, le tout avec un étrange optimisme.
Flux, le morceau énergique qui clôt l’album, résume parfaitement cet état d’esprit :
« Pourtant, je défendrai fièrement ma cause et clamerai que le monde que je connais mérite d’être sauvé / porté par un dévouement sans but précis et un manque d’informations ».
Sur le plan sonore, des titres comme If You’re Seeing This, It’s a Sign et Disaster s’inspirent du post-punk des années 90, tandis que Teresa et Deity’s World puisent dans le college rock aux guitares cristallines et la power pop. Des morceaux aux atmosphères plus nuancées comme Almost, Innocent Men et la chanson-titre, Made, apportent du relief et offrent une respiration avant des titres plus percutants et énergiques, à l’instar d’Astroturf, le morceau le plus punk de l’album.
L’album a été enregistré en prise directe en studio et produit par Max Izzo (guitare), avec Alex Izzo à la batterie, les deux frères de Roxanne Izzo, et Lawrence Leylekian à la basse. Le groupe a joué un rôle majeur dans la composition de ces chansons, initialement écrites par Roxanne à la guitare acoustique ; l’enregistrement s’est déroulé en live aux studios Mixart, dans le quartier NDG, sur une période de six jours.
L’album sera disponible sur toutes les plateformes le 25 septembre 2026.

Combining literary references to the likes of Marshall McLuhan and Bernini’s The Ecstasy of Santa Teresa with instantaneously catchy earworm pop hooks, Izzo’s world is observational.
« What’s life but a lesson paid through the tax of perception? » Izzo spews before delivering Alternate Reality’s anthemic hook – a Gen-Z protest anthem about existing in a system that feels fundamentally flawed.
Throughout the record’s 12 tracks, Izzo navigates through themes of loneliness, artistic strife, fate, maintaining integrity despite the decaying state of the world, with a strange optimism.
The album’s energetic closer Flux sums it all up:
« Still, I’ll proudly fight my case and claim the world I know is worth saving/backed with aimless dedication and a lack of information« .
Sonically, songs like If You’re Seeing This, It’s a Sign and Disaster lean on a 90s twinged post-punk influence, while Teresa and Deity’s World draw from the likes of jangly college rock and power pop.
Moments like Almost, Innocent Men and the album’s title track Made, add textural moodiness, giving the album breathing room before energetic hard hitters like the album’s punkiest moment, Astroturf.
This album was recorded live in the studio and produced by Roxanne’s brother Max Izzo (guitar), with her brother Alex Izzo on drums and Lawrence Leylekian on bass. The group had a huge part in composing these songs, which Roxanne wrote on acoustic guitar, and the album was tracked live at Mixart Studios in NDG over the span of 6 days.
The album will be released on September 25th 2026.
