EMPEROR : LA PERFECTION DU BLACK METAL
Enfin!! C’était le mot que j’entendais le plus avant le show. Enfin ils sont de retour chez nous! Faut dire que la dernière visite du band datait du Heavy MTL en 2018. Bon, à part quelques festivals, Emperor ne fait pas beaucoup de tournées. Ihsahn s’occupe de sa carrière solo. C’était donc un rendez-vous que tous les fans du Québec ne pouvaient pas manquer.
Verdict? Relisez mon titre, c’était parfait. À l’unanimité, tous les chums à qui j’ai parlé après, le mot parfait revenait constamment.
Ihsahn, Trym et Samoth sont encore au top niveau exécution. Accompagnés de Secthdamon à la basse et Alver aux claviers et voix, ils livrent une performance fidèle à 100 % aux albums. Emperor a également fait plaisir à ses fans de longue date en jouant plusieurs chansons tirées des albums In the Nightside Eclipse (1994) et Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk, deux œuvres majeures de leur discographie.

Blood Incantation, qui gagne des amateurs à chaque spectacle qu’ils présentent, ont joué une fois de plus leur excellent dernier album Absolute Elsewhere en entier. La popularité de cet album ne fait aucun doute, il suffit de penser à sa présence dans plusieurs palmarès de fin d’année. Et surtout, le groupe poursuit clairement sa montée. Une solide prestation qui leur a assurément permis de gagner encore de nouveaux fans ce soir.
Quel bon choix pour accompagner Emperor en tournée!

EMPEROR: THE PERFECTION OF BLACK METAL
Finally!! That was the word I kept hearing the most before the show. Finally they are back here! It’s worth noting that the band’s last visit dates back to Heavy MTL in 2018. Aside from a few festivals, Emperor doesn’t tour very often. Ihsahn is focused on his solo career. This was clearly a show that no fan in Quebec could afford to miss.
The verdict? Just read my title, it was perfect. Unanimously, every friend I spoke with after the show kept using the word perfect.
Ihsahn, Trym, and Samoth are still performing at the highest level. Joined by Secthdamon on bass and Alver on keyboards and vocals, they delivered a performance that was 100% faithful to the albums.
Emperor also pleased longtime fans by performing several songs from In the Nightside Eclipse (1994) and Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk, two landmark releases in their discography.
Blood Incantation, who keep gaining new fans with every performance, once again played their excellent latest album Absolute Elsewhere in full. The popularity of this album is undeniable, just look at its presence on numerous year-end lists. More importantly, the band continues its upward trajectory. A strong performance that undoubtedly earned them even more new fans that night.
Let’s hope they return in less than 8 years!!!
