Jacob Roberge. Un nom qui a circulé beaucoup en 2025 dans l’univers du prog. Véritable révélation pour plusieurs, dont moi, je me devais de revoir cet artiste des plus complets, histoire d’admirer son talent, et celui du band qui le complète sur scène. Car faut savoir, sur l’album The Passing, son premier, il joue tous les instruments. En show, c’est un peu plus difficile.
Jacob Roberge, si vous ne connaissez pas, sa musique, je dirais, est un mélange de Neal Morse et Porcupine Tree. Des pièces longues laissant la place aux instruments.
Je vais aller droit au but, c’était un show incroyable ! Alternant les claviers et les guitares, Jacob a joué son album au complet et nous a fait un clin d’œil sur son passé en interprétant une pièce de son ancien band. Mais ce n’est pas tout ! Il nous prépare un nouvel album, et il en a profité pour nous présenter une pièce de ce nouvel opus. Une introduction d’environ 7 minutes présentant les thèmes musicaux qu’on risque d’entendre. À suivre, mais si je me fie à ce que j’ai entendu… wow… belle évolution et encore un tour de force, M. Roberge !
L’autre aspect qui a fait de cette soirée un succès, c’est bien sûr les musiciens qui l’entourent.
Martin Plante aux drums, Alex Rancourt à la basse, Étienne Quirion et William Gaboury aux guitares. Que dire… ils rendent tellement justice aux compositions de Jacob.
Si vous aimez le prog, puis voir s’exprimer des musiciens au top de leur talent et d’ici, je vous encourage à découvrir Jacob Roberge !

Jacob Roberge. A name that circulated a lot in 2025 in the prog scene.
A true revelation for many, myself included, I had to see this incredibly complete artist again, to admire his talent, as well as that of the band backing him on stage. Because it’s worth noting, on the album The Passing, his first, he plays all the instruments. Live… it’s a bit more challenging.
Jacob Roberge, if you’re not familiar, his music, I would say, is a mix of Neal Morse and Porcupine Tree. Long compositions that leave plenty of space for the instruments.
I’ll get straight to the point, it was an incredible show! Switching between keyboards and guitars, Jacob performed his album in full and gave us a nod to his past by playing a song from his former band. But that’s not all! He’s preparing a new album, and he took the opportunity to present a piece from this upcoming release. An introduction of about 7 minutes showcasing the musical themes we can expect to hear. To be continued, but based on what I heard… wow… great evolution and yet another tour de force, Mr. Roberge!
Another aspect that made this evening a success is, of course, the musicians surrounding him.
Martin Plante on drums, Alex Rancourt on bass, Étienne Quirion and William Gaboury on guitars. What can I say… they do so much justice to Jacob’s compositions.
