Quelques adeptes de la scène québécoise métal mélodique se sont réunis pour un show exceptionnel, le samedi 13 septembre 2025. Faisant initialement partie de la programmation, le groupe I, Apokalypse a dû annuler leur apparition la veille pour raison personnelle (salutations et pensées vous accompagne). Malgré la triste nouvelle, les deux autres formations ont tenu à conserver l’événement, en offrant des performances de 1h15 chacune.
À 20h40, les très attendus Blinded by Faith montâsses sur les planches. Ayant annoncé leur la fin du band en 2017, ils fissent un retour l’année dernière, pour le 20e anniversaire de Under an Occult Sun, Blackguard à leurs côtés. Tommy Demers a annoncé que « l’arrêt du groupe avait été une très mauvaise idée et qu’ils ne referaient pas ça ». Il ne fallut que quelques notes pour que le plancher de la salle se mette à trembler sous le martèlement du moshpit. Le band était très dynamique et les membres ne cachaient pas leur enthousiasme d’être de retour sur scène. Leur liste jouée rassemblait en majorité des pistes de l’album vingtenaire, mais des titres des LP plus récents y ont été également ajoutés. On nous informe aussi d’un prochain opus présentement en production.
BLINDED BY FAITH
Après un court entracte, se fut le tour au réputé groupe de melo black metal Obscurcis Romancia de faire soulever l’audience. D’entrée de jeu, Yves Godbout nous annonce qu’il n’est présentement pas en mesure de bouger avec vigueur et nous demande de le faire pour lui. Commande qui s’est avérée plus qu’efficace. Quoi de mieux pour démarrer un set d’OR qu’avec La Sombre Mélodie du Barde Noir? Les spectateurs déjà bien réchauffés…euh… disons “en ébullition“, ne tardèrent guère à brasser les molécules atmosphériques environnantes. Le band performa plusieurs pièces tirées de leurs albums EP. Encore une fois, l’énergie émanant du groupe était contagieuse. Il était simplement impossible de rester sans bouger.
Pour un concert intime, les gens présents pourraient vous certifier que l’ambiance enivrante et l’agrément étaient au rendez-vous. Les deux parties ont tout donnés et ont su partager leur passion du spectacle. Un merci spécial au Petit Campus qui perpétue la possibilité d’avoir des événements d’envergure modérée. Mais surtout, un énorme remerciement à Blinded by Faith et Obscurcis Romancia d’avoir offert une soirée mémorable.

A few devotees of the Quebec melodic metal scene gathered for an exceptional show on Saturday, September 13, 2025. Initially part of the lineup, the band I, Apokalypse had to cancel their appearance the day before for personal reasons (our greetings and thoughts go out to them). Despite the sad news, the two other acts decided to keep the event alive, delivering 75-minute performances each.
At 8:40 p.m., the highly anticipated Blinded by Faith took the stage. Having announced the end of the band back in 2017, they made a comeback last year to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Under an Occult Sun, with Blackguard at their side. Tommy Demers declared that “ending the band had been a very bad idea and that they would never do it again.” It only took a few notes for the venue’s floor to start trembling under the pounding of the mosh pit. The band was very dynamic, and the members didn’t hide their excitement about being back on stage. Their setlist was composed mainly of tracks from the 20-year-old album, but also included songs from more recent LPs. We were also informed that a new opus is currently in production.
After a short intermission, it was the turn of the renowned melodic black metal band Obscurcis Romancia to fire up the audience. Right from the start, Yves Godbout told us that he wasn’t able to move energetically that night and asked us to do it for him—a command that proved more than effective. What better way to start an OR set than with La Sombre Mélodie du Barde Noir? The crowd, already well-heated—let’s say “boiling”—quickly stirred up the surrounding atmosphere. The band performed several pieces from their EPs. Once again, the energy emanating from the group was contagious. It was simply impossible to stand still.
For such an intimate concert, those present could certainly attest that the atmosphere was intoxicating and the vibe was spot-on. Both bands gave it their all and knew how to share their passion for the stage. A special thanks goes out to Petit Campus for keeping these mid-sized events possible. But above all, a huge thank you to Blinded by Faith and Obscurcis Romancia for delivering a memorable evening.
