SAVAGE MASTER : L’ASCENSION DU METAL OCCULT SE POURSUIT
SAVAGE MASTER, c’est l’esprit créatif d’Adam Neal et Stacey Savage. Le band est actif depuis 2013, et il était de retour en sol québécois pour nous présenter l’excellent nouvel album Dark and Dangerous, paru en mars 2025.
Performance énergique et visuellement impeccable. Stacey Savage, avec sa présence imposante, son regard perçant et sa gestuelle théâtrale, sait capter toute notre attention à elle seule. Entourée de musiciens efficaces et solides, l’intensité ne faiblit pas une seconde. Le groupe nous a offert une prestation bien rodée, puisant autant dans ses classiques que dans ses nouveautés.
Le setlist avait de quoi ravir les fans avec des morceaux puissants comme « Hunt at Night », « Child of the Witch », « The Hangman’s Tree » et « Spirit of Death », sans oublier les incontournables « With Whips and Chains », « Never Ending Fire » et « The Ripper in Black ». Le public a aussi eu droit à « Devil Rock », « Ready to Sin » et « Myth, Magic & Steel », pour une soirée aussi heavy qu’occulte. Je voulais rester seulement quelques chansons pour vous ramener quelques photos… mais j’ai fini par assister à tout le show tellement c’était bon!

En ouverture, un autre band dont vous devrez retenir le nom — ils seront gros ! NITE, un groupe de blackened heavy metal originaire de San Francisco, a su livrer un show parfait. Ils ont présenté plusieurs pièces de leur plus récent et excellent album Cult of the Serpent Sun, lancé le 14 mars 2025, ainsi que quelques morceaux tirés de leurs deux autres albums. C’était une belle occasion de les voir sur scène, avec leur son distinctif qui mêle agressivité black et riffs heavy classiques. Une performance solide qui a mis la table de façon magistrale.
NITE
Juste avant NITE, pour accueillir les amateurs, MEURTRIER, un groupe speed metal de Québec — un style qu’on ne croise pas si souvent dans la province — a très bien fait. Avec son approche directe, tranchante et bien assumée, le groupe a su préparer la table pour une soirée mémorable. Il faut également souligner que MEURTRIER a lancé en avril 2024 un EP de 5 titres entièrement en français, intitulé Le Visage du Mal, qui mérite une écoute attentive pour les amateurs de heavy/speed old-school à la sauce québécoise.

SAVAGE MASTER: THE RISE OF OCCULT METAL CONTINUES
SAVAGE MASTER is the creative force of Adam Neal and Stacey Savage. Active since 2013, the band returned to Quebec to present their excellent new album Dark and Dangerous, released in March 2025.
It was an energetic and visually striking performance. Stacey Savage, with her commanding presence, piercing gaze, and theatrical gestures, held our full attention all by herself. Surrounded by tight and skilled musicians, the energy never dipped for a second. The band delivered a polished set, drawing from both their classics and their latest material.
The setlist had everything to please the fans, with powerful tracks like “Hunt at Night”, “Child of the Witch”, “The Hangman’s Tree”, and “Spirit of Death”, along with essentials like “With Whips and Chains”, “Never Ending Fire”, and “The Ripper in Black”. The crowd also got to enjoy “Devil Rock”, “Ready to Sin”, and “Myth, Magic & Steel” — making for a night that was as heavy as it was occult. I had only planned to stay for a few songs to snap some photos… but I ended up staying for the whole show because it was that good!
Opening the night was another band you’ll want to keep an eye on — they’re going to be big! NITE, a blackened heavy metal band from San Francisco, delivered a flawless set. They performed several tracks from their latest and excellent album Cult of the Serpent Sun, released on March 14, 2025, along with a few songs from their two previous records. It was a great opportunity to see them live, with their signature sound that blends blackened aggression with classic heavy metal riffs. A strong performance that set the tone perfectly for the night.
Just before NITE, to welcome the early crowd, MEURTRIER, a speed metal band from Quebec — a genre not often seen in the province — kicked things off with a bang. With a sharp, direct, and confident approach, the band warmed up the stage for what would become an unforgettable evening. It’s also worth noting that MEURTRIER released a five-track EP in French back in April 2024, titled Le Visage du Mal, which is definitely worth checking out for fans of old-school heavy/speed metal with a Quebecois twist.
